Boulevard Richard Lenoir
Marais means swamp in French as the area was once, before development took place with hotels and houses spurning up.
The district has a strong Jewish and Chinese community.
The famous French Poet and playwriter Victor Hugo’s house in located here. Victor Hugo was also known for writing Les Miserables.
The Boulevard Richard Lenoir was named after two people François Richard and Joseph Lenoir Dufresne, both of whom were industrialists and responsible for bringing the cotton industry to Paris.
Place des Vosges is the oldest square in Paris and was built by Henry IV from 1605 to 1612.
